Softball Recap: Word of God Academy Extends Winning Streak to Three

Word of God Academy took a 18-run loss the last time they faced off against Christian Home Educators Fellowship, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Word of God Academy's pitcher stepped up to hand Christian Home Educators Fellowship a 1-0 shutout on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Force sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Leah Daugherty was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Brynn Jordan was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Word of God Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Christian Home Educators Fellowship, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-2.

Looking ahead, Word of God Academy will square off against Psalms Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Christian Home Educators Fellowship, they will take on Acadiana Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Acadiana Christian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.75 runs per game on average), something Christian Home Educators Fellowship will no doubt try to take advantage of.
