Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) found their leader in underclassman Tony Guerrero, who scored 25 points along with eight assists and six steals. Guerrero continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Touze, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Marathon saw an underclassman step up: DAESHAWN HOLMES scored 15 points along with eight blocks and six rebounds. HOLMES has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played. ADRIAN CRUZ was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Somerset Academy (Silver Palms)'s win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Marathon, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.
Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) will stay at home for another game and welcome Coral Shores at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. As for Marathon, they will head out on the road to square off against Downtown Doral at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Downtown Doral is ranked 687th, while Marathon is ranked 694th).
