Cranston West is 1-9 against North Kingstown since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cranston West Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the North Kingstown Skippers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Cranston West can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They blew past St. Raphael Academy 64-37 on the road.
Cranston West's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maia Riccio led the charge by almost dropping a triple-double on 11 points, 16 rebounds, and nine assists. It was the first time this season that Riccio posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Tedeschi-moran, who scored 14 points along with seven steals and five assists.
Meanwhile, North Kingstown didn't have too much trouble with East Providence on the road on Tuesday as they won 43-29. Given North Kingstown's advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while East Providence is ranked 43rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cranston West's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for North Kingstown, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
