Brookfield East has gone 6-1 against Waukesha West recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Spartans will challenge the Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Brookfield East comes in on nine and Waukesha West on three.
Brookfield East is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Muskego 3-0.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-20, 25-16.
Brookfield East can attribute much of their success to Hailey Dooyema, who had 14 digs and one assist, and Izzy Green, who had five digs and two aces. That's the most digs Dooyema has posted since back in September of 2024.
Meanwhile, Waukesha West was able to grind out a solid victory over Watertown on Saturday, taking the game 3-1.
While Waukesha West might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Watertown scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 23-25, 27-25, 25-20.
Brookfield East better focus on containing Gracie Fregien and Ireland Zyzo as the pair were huge in Waukesha West's win. Fregien had 20 digs and seven assists, while Zyzo had 16 kills and 16 digs. Zyzo has been hot recently, having posted five or more kills the last four times she's played.
Brookfield East's record now sits at 37-9. As for Waukesha West, their record is now 30-11.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Brookfield East has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Waukesha West struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
