Memorial is 5-0 against the Buffaloes since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Memorial Chargers will head out on the road to challenge the McAlester Buffaloes at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Memorial has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Will Rogers College on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Memorial came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Ropers are ranked 236th).
Despite the loss, Memorial saw an underclassman step up: Fabian Harris scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Jalil Cotton, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, McAlester's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They fell to Coweta 67-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Memorial has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-6 record this season. As for McAlester, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Memorial against the Buffaloes when the teams last played back in November of 2023 as the squad secured a 70-33 victory. With Memorial ahead 39-16 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
