The Valley Vikings waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Bernalillo 70-50. Valley pushed the score to 55-32 by the end of the third, a deficit Bernalillo cut but never quite recovered from.
Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nevaeh Richardson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Giana Roybal, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten assists.
Valley's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Bernalillo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-12.
Valley's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Albuquerque Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Albuquerque Academy will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bernalillo, they will head out on the road to take on Hope Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Mexico (Hope Christian is ranked 51st, while Bernalillo is ranked 66th).
