The Glendale Prep Academy Griffins won the last time they faced the Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans, and things went their way on Thursday too. Glendale Prep Academy came out on top against Scottsdale Preparatory Academy by a score of 49-39. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Glendale Prep Academy.
Glendale Prep Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddie Caspers led the charge by scoring 17 points. Caspers has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Senna Smith, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Scottsdale Preparatory Academy saw an underclassman step up: Maeve Morgan scored ten points along with six steals. Morgan hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashtyn Wolf, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Scottsdale Preparatory Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glendale Prep Academy only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Glendale Prep Academy's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7.
Glendale Prep Academy will take on Highland Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Highland Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 228th, while Glendale Prep Academy is ranked 82nd). As for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Joseph City at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Joseph City will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
