Alexander is 10-0 against South Paulding since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Alexander Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the South Paulding Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Alexander is looking to tack on another W to their 13-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Alexander faced Langston Hughes in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Alexander was the clear victor by a 67-44 margin over Langston Hughes.
Alexander can attribute much of their success to Gregory Dunson, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Braedan Lue, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Lue is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Jermaine Freeman was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, South Paulding beat Newnan 53-46 on Tuesday.
Alexander's win bumped their record up to 22-2. As for South Paulding, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.
Alexander beat South Paulding 78-68 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alexander since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
