Cedar Grove has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Mary Persons Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Cedar Grove rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past Bremen 49-7 at home. Given Cedar Grove's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Bremen is ranked 178th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Mary Persons entered their tilt with Crisp County with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Mary Persons put the hurt on Crisp County with a sharp 42-20 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for Mary Persons, who have now won five games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Duke Watson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 238 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. Watson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. Christian Stewart got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Cedar Grove has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 7-5 record. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 7-4 Sandy Creek and 6-5 Hebron Christian Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.9% over those games). As for Mary Persons, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.
