The Rogers Vikings will head out to challenge the Central Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Rogers is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Rogers' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Mt. Pleasant by a score of 12-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Kilties recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Lila Leys made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Leys was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. She also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Talia Cicilline was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Amelia Wallace, who scored a run while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 23 runs the game before, Central was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They came up short against Cranston East, falling 11-1. The contest marked the Knights' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayleen White, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
With the loss, Central broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2. As for Rogers, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rogers has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. It's a different story for Central, though, as they've only averaged .352. Will they be able to contain Rogers' hitters?
Rogers took their win against Central when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
