Mid-Suburban - East recap October 22, 2013
Adam O'Malley of Elk Grove ran for the longest rushing play in Mid-Suburban - East this season against Wheeling last week. O'Malley's team topped the Wildcats as he sprinted for 56 yards on the play and finished with 105 in all.
Rolling Meadows moved up to 81 from 119 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Mustangs were able to move up by beating Hersey 24-21.
Elk Grove's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. O'Malley threw for 141 and 1 touchdown and John Pass had 51 yards receiving. On the ground O'Malley chipped in 105 yards. Mike Bishoff helped Elk Grove's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 44 yards.
Pass was the best receiver in the league this week as Larry Calhoun's team bested Wheeling. Pass racked up 2 receptions for 51 yards. Bishoff helped Elk Grove's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 44 yards.
Elk Grove's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Grenadiers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. O'Malley has thrown for 2,078 yards and 19 touchdowns this season, while Pass has 38 catches for 832 yards. O'Malley also leads the league in rushing with 500 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Rolling Meadows takes on Buffalo Grove. Matt Mishler's team is currently in first, while the Bison are in fifth.
Buffalo Grove and Prospect played the closest game in the league this week, with Buffalo Grove eventually emerging with a 7-5 victory.
