The Mullins Auctioneers waltzed into their matchup Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 70-56 win over Cheraw. Given Mullins' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Cheraw is ranked 269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
JJ Davis was his usual excellent self, scoring 32 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Mullins' points. Dorrian Hickman was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Mullins' win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Cheraw, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
Mullins won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Darlington at 6:45 p.m. on December 20th. Darlington is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Cheraw and Silver Bluff will round out the year against one another at 5:00 p.m. on December 27th at. Hopefully Silver Bluff focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Wednesday.
