Basketball Recap: Channel Islands Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Channel Islands came tearing into Wednesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 68-58 victory over the Carpinteria Warriors. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while the Warriors are ranked 645th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Channel Islands to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chris Anguiano, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nazir Ivey, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Channel Islands smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Channel Islands' win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Carpinteria, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Channel Islands wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 75-52 victory against Fillmore on the 13th. As for Carpinteria, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-78 loss against Cate on the 12th.
