The Academy has gone 7-2 against Arrupe Jesuit recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Academy Wildcats will welcome the Arrupe Jesuit Generals at 7:00 p.m. The Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.9 points per game this season.
The Academy proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 29) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Stargate School, sneaking past 63-61.
The Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dominik Konarski out in front who went 9-for-15 en route to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Trey Boychuk, who went 7-for-16 on his way to 19 points and eight boards.
Meanwhile, Arrupe Jesuit was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through an 87-46 loss at the hands of Fort Lupton. While losing is never fun, the Generals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while the Bluedevils are ranked 65th).
The Academy will need to focus on slowing down Yahir Pizarro, one of several Arrupe Jesuit players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5-for-8 to rack up 14 points. The dominant performance gave Pizarro a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mario Cabrera, who posted nine points and six assists.
The Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points over those games. As for Arrupe Jesuit, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: The Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Arrupe Jesuit struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
The Academy took their victory against Arrupe Jesuit in their previous matchup back in January of 2022 by a conclusive 66-46. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Arrupe Jesuit's Anzel Navarro, who went 8-for-14 en route to 22 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be easier for The Academy to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
