With a playoff game on the line, the Gateway Eagles rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They really took it to the Cowboys/Cowgirls for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-35 win on the road. Gateway has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 23 points or more this season.
Gateway's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was V'Davrielle Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Thatiyana Holiday, who scored 19 points along with six steals.
Gateway has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for LaBelle, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.
Gateway will face off against Aubrey Rogers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gateway's defense has only allowed 27.8 points per game this season, so Aubrey Rogers' offense will have their work cut out for them. LaBelle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
