Makayla Lessner made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kalli Chelton was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Caroline Scott was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Woodbridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Delmarva Christian only posted a batting average of .304.
Meanwhile, Odyssey Charter was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Dickinson. The win continues a trend for the Owls in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won six in a row.
The team relied heavily on Lena Garland (2029), who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Williams (2025), who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Woodbridge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Odyssey Charter, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-9.
Odyssey Charter's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Woodbridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. It's a different story for Odyssey Charter, though, as they've only averaged .221. Will they be able to contain Woodbridge's hitters?
Everything went Woodbridge's way against Odyssey Charter in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Woodbridge made off with a 17-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
