If the College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals were riding high off their 74-26 takedown of the Millennium Lions last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. College Prep & Leadership Academy fell 66-54 to Piedmont Classical on Friday. College Prep & Leadership Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Piedmont Classical apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Robert Knotts and Tyrie Pressley certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Knotts scored 19 points along with five rebounds, while Pressley scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Mckenzie, who scored nine points.
Piedmont Classical found their leader in underclassman La'Trel Smith, who scored seven points along with five assists and five steals. Smith also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Ja'el Lawson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
College Prep & Leadership Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for Piedmont Classical, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. College Prep & Leadership Academy will play host again and welcome Triad Math and Science Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Piedmont Classical, they will be playing at home against Bethany at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bethany has now lost 15 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 29.
