Union Pines has gone 8-2 against Southern Lee recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Kelsey Knight spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.
At the plate, Elizabeth Andrews was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Caidence Crabtree, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Union Pines kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Southern Lee fell victim to Hoke County and their airtight pitching crew last Tuesday. They came up short against the Bucks, falling 8-0. Cavaliers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bucks since last Tuesday.
Southern Lee saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Bisson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Union Pines' victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Southern Lee, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
Southern Lee's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Union Pines has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. It's a different story for Southern Lee, though, as they've only averaged .339. Will they be able to contain Union Pines' hitters?
Everything went Union Pines' way against Southern Lee in their previous matchup back in March, as Union Pines made off with a 16-2 win. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
