Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sycamore). They put the hurt on Dickson County with a sharp 15-7 victory on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the War Eagles.
Sycamore got a massive performance out of Nathaniel Batson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Jones, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
Cookeville's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Sycamore, their record is now 12-7.
Sycamore's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cookeville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. It's a different story for Sycamore, though, as they've only averaged .215. Will they be able to contain Cookeville's hitters?
