Andrews has gone 8-2 against Pecos recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Mustangs will face off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Andrews has five straight victories, Pecos has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Andrews needed a bit of extra time to put away Greenwood. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Rangers.
Grayson Martindale was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Kayson Luna, who got four hits from his four at bats.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Andrews kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Pecos might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Monahans who claimed the real prize. The Eagles fell just short of the Loboes by a score of 12-11. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Loboes 10-0 in the first period.
Joel Aguliar made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Alerick Dominguez was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Andrews' record is now 14-8. As for Pecos, their loss dropped their record down to 5-16-2.
Andrews got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March against Pecos by a conclusive 12-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
