Two dominant guards in Olivia Jacobs and Angelia Dunn are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Garner Trojans's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Cleveland Rams at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around on Friday.
Last Saturday, Garner was beaten by Southeast Raleigh 75-31. While losing is never fun, Garner can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while Southeast Raleigh is ranked 102nd).
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 63-21, which was the final score in Cleveland's tilt against Willow Spring on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cleveland has scored all season.
Garner dropped their record down to 3-14 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Cleveland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.
Garner suffered a grim 63-41 defeat to Cleveland in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Dunn, who scored 28 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Now that Garner knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
