Basketball Recap: Thompson Beats Ada-Borup for Their Fourth Straight Win

Thompson had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 60-51 win over the Ada-Borup Cougars. Given the Tommies' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked tenth in North Dakota, while the Cougars are ranked 49th in Minnesota), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Thompson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gavin Krogstad, who went 10 of 20 en route to 23 points. The game was Krogstad's third in a row with at least ten points. Karter Peterson was another key player, going 5 for 8 on his way to 10 points and six rebounds.

Thompson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Ada-Borup's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin McCraven, who went 6 of 14 en route to 14 points along with six boards and three steals. McCraven is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Anders Tinjum, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Thompson has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Ada-Borup, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-5.

Thompson has already played their next game (against Devils Lake), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Ada-Borup has already played their next match, a 70-67 victory against Mahnomen/Waubun on the 23rd.
