The Health Sciences Surgeons were the 62-12 winner over the Mountain Empire Redhawks when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Health Sciences fell 58-51 to Mountain Empire on Thursday. Health Sciences just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
It was another big night for Corey Vann, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 11 rebounds for Mountain Empire. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vann has scored all season. Andrew Sepulveda was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Health Sciences' defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Mountain Empire, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Health Sciences will take on School for Entrepreneurship & Technology at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Empire won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bayfront Charter at 4:00 p.m. on January 19th. Bayfront Charter will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
