Baseball Recap: New Life Academy Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

New Life Academy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt St. Paul Academy-Summit on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Spartans 14-2. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Nolan Wold made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Gavin McCulloch was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Noah Hahn, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

New Life Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for St. Paul Academy-Summit, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, New Life Academy will take on St. Agnes at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Eagles have won six straight at home, while the Aggies won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for St. Paul Academy-Summit, they will face off against Providence Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least ten runs in their last eight games.
