The Bacon Academy Bobcats were the 46-31 winner over the Norwich Free Academy Wildcats when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Bacon Academy fell 49-36 to Norwich Free Academy on Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bacon Academy has scored all season.
Leading Norwich Free Academy to victory were Nevaeh Yorke and Emily Orcutt. Yorke scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Orcutt scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Yorke continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Stringer, who scored five points.
Bacon Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Norwich Free Academy, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bacon Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Simsbury at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Simsbury is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Norwich Free Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Griswold at 7:00 p.m. Griswold is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
