The Socorro Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 18th straight loss. They were dealt a 58-23 defeat at the hands of Americas. Socorro has struggled against Americas recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Giselle Medrano was Socorro's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Ileane Delgado took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Americas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mary Brooks led the charge by scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Brooks is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for four games straight. Another player making a difference was Kylie Marquez, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Socorro's loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-25. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.9 points per game. As for Americas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 26-6 record this season.
