Meanwhile, Pearce won against Berkner on Tuesday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Pearce's pitcher stepped up to hand Berkner a 17-0 shutout. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Emma Willers was incredible, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Aubrey Yarbrough was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
Pearce always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berkner only posted an OBP of .091.
Pearce's win bumped their record up to 6-12-1. As for Lake Highlands, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lake Highlands has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .669. However, it's not like Pearce struggles in that department as they've averaged .450. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lake Highlands couldn't quite finish off Pearce in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can Lake Highlands avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
