It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Belfast ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Nokomis Warriors. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row.
Jordyn MacKay made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over eight innings while giving up six earned runs off 12 hits. MacKay was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
In other batting news, Gracie Moore was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May. Another player making a difference was Danica Gray, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI.
Belfast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.
