Adding to the longest winning streak in Lancaster-Lebanon 2 this week, Manheim Central beat Susquehanna Township 17-14. The victory was the 12th in a row for the Barons.
Manheim Central and the Indians played the most contested game in the league this week, with Manheim Central eventually emerging with a 17-14 victory. Daniel Wiederrecht ran for 10 yards and caught 2 passes for 94 yards during the win.
Mike Williams' team's dynamic duo of Colin Fry and Wiederrecht proved tough for Susquehanna Township to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Fry threw for 192 yards and Wiederrecht had 94 yards receiving. Taylor Geib helped Manheim Central's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 68 yards.
Elizabethtown's Tyler Cottle and Arthur Quaye have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Cottle has thrown for 1,212 yards this season, while Quaye has 24 catches for 558 yards. Marc Royer from the Barons leads the league in rushing with 1,732 yards.
The top two teams in Lancaster-Lebanon 2 will face off this week when first place Manheim Central takes on second place Cocalico. Manheim Central bested Joe Headen's team last week, while Cocalico topped Lancaster Catholic.
The Eagles' Jhet Janis needs only 66 yards against the Barons next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Janis has rushed for 934 yards on 111 carries so far this year.
There should be lots of points scored when Cocalico and Manheim Central face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Dave Gingrich's team comes in having scored 496 this season, while the Barons have scored 586. The Eagles scored 35 points last week as they defeated the Crusaders.
