East Lansing hasn't had much luck against Mason recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, it was close, but East Lansing sidestepped St. Johns for a 6-4 victory.

Ben Fletcher was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of East Lansing's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-14 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Gus Greenwalt was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Mason entered their tilt with Holt on Thursday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Rams.
Maddox Armour spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Mason got a big performance out of Joey Schild, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Colton McCaleb, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Mason kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Mason pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for East Lansing, their victory bumped their record up to 7-14.
East Lansing couldn't quite finish off Mason when the teams last played back in April of 2018 and fell 3-1. Will the Trojans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
