Neshannock has gone a perfect 10-0 against New Brighton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Lancers will host the Lions at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Neshannock has 36 straight wins, New Brighton has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
New Brighton's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: Neshannock hadn't allowed a single run the last six times they've hit the field. The Lancers never let Riverside get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Friday. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Addy Frye made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Jaidon Nogay and Miley Anderson did most of the damage at the plate: Nogay went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs, while Anderson went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits Nogay has posted since back in April of 2024. Gabby Quinn was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Neshannock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverside only posted an OBP of .133.
Meanwhile, New Brighton fell victim to Shenango and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 16-0 to the Wildcats.
Neshannock's win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for New Brighton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
New Brighton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Neshannock has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .536. It's a different story for New Brighton, though, as they've only averaged .356. Will they be able to contain Neshannock's hitters?
Neshannock took their win against New Brighton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 19-0 score. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
