The Rushville Lions will square off against the Greensburg Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Rushville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Rushville after they put the first runs on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of South Dearborn by a score of 5-4. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Alex Reynolds put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Reynolds was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.
Reynolds wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Woolf, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Woolf's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Greensburg had just enough and edged out Lawrenceburg 3-2 on Thursday. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Chase Walsman was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
Rushville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Greensburg, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Rushville couldn't quite get it done against Greensburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 10-5. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
