The Kickapoo Chiefs and the Joplin Eagles squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Kickapoo Chiefs had to settle for second. Kickapoo lost to Joplin at home by a decisive 45-29 margin. Kickapoo's loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Kickapoo's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Shaun Campbell, who picked up 147 receiving yards and a touchdown. Deion Banks was another key contributor, rushing for 88 yards and a touchdown.
Joplin had a senior duo take command as Hobbs Gooch rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries and Quin Renfro rushed for 257 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Gooch's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. Jonathan Williams made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Kickapoo's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Joplin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Kickapoo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Joplin is on the road again on Friday and play against Nixa at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th.
