Sunnyside is 9-1 against Buena since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Sunnyside will take on Buena at 4:00 p.m. Sunnyside's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Buena's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Saturday, Sunnyside made easy work of Pueblo and carried off a 12-2 win. Considering the Blue Devils have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Ashley Rosthenhausler was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Sunnyside let Soleil Ponce and Kasandra Alcaraz run wild. Ponce scored three runs while going 3-for-4, while Alcaraz went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Ponce a new career-high. Vianney Cruz also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Sunnyside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pueblo only posted an OBP of .238.
Meanwhile, Buena was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 14-9 to Mountain View.
Ariella Antemann was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
In other batting news, Amaya Serrano was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Hailey Larson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
The victory made it two in a row for Sunnyside and bumps their season record up to 13-4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Buena, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-15.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sunnyside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Buena struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sunnyside was able to grind out a solid victory over Buena in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sunnyside since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
