It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Oak Ridge Trojans had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Turlock at home to the tune of 45-6. Oak Ridge might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five matchups by 24 points or more this season.
Oak Ridge was led to victory by Joaquin Graves-Mercado and Kaleb Edwards. Graves-Mercado threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes, while Edwards picked up 153 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jasen Womack, who rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Mateo Valencia and Devon Lambert certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Valencia picked up 145 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Lambert threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes.
Oak Ridge's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Turlock, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-6.
Oak Ridge will square off against Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Central Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Oak Ridge likes a good challenge. Turlock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
