The Columbus North Bull Dogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 51-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bloomington North. Columbus North was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bloomington North apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Bull Dogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Olivia Johnson, who scored 11 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sydney Johnson, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Columbus North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bloomington North only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Bloomington North got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mia Robbennolt out in front who scored 23 points along with six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Robbennolt has scored at least a third of Bloomington North's points. Ashley Stegemoller was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Columbus North's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 10-11. As for Bloomington North, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.
Columbus North will head out on the road to take on Rushville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bloomington North, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Edgewood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Edgewood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Bloomington North is ranked 79th).
