The Poly Parrots were the 61-54 winner over the Verdugo Hills Dons when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Poly fell 51-42 to Verdugo Hills on Friday. While losing is never fun, Poly can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 433rd, while Verdugo Hills is ranked 211th).
Georges Abdulnour continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Verdugo Hills, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds. Abdulnour also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Alexander Martinez was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Poly's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Verdugo Hills, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Poly will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against St. Monica at 12:00 p.m. on December 9th. As for Verdugo Hills, they will square off against Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
