Inter-County - Silver recap Oct. 3, 2012
Juniata Valley moved up to 228 from 294 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Inter-County - Silver. The Hornets were able to make the jump by beating Moshannon Valley 56-7.
Juniata Valley led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on the Black Knights/Damsels. Brett Grissinger ran for 150 yards and caught two passes for 86 yards in the win.
Austin McMonagle put up the best numbers through the air as Williamsburg lost to Tussey Mountain. He finished with five completions for 52 yards and one touchdown. McMonagle's favorite target this week was Quinton Snyder, who caught one pass for 23 yards.
Damon Braniff was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 303 yards as Glendale beat Moshannon Valley. Doug Twigg also contributed to the rushing game with 45 yards on the ground.
6-foot-1 quarterback Tanner Dipko of Michael Keith's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 724. He has also thrown two touchdowns. On the ground, the Hornets' Grissinger has rushed for 682 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Devin Weyandt. The Claysburg-Kimmel star has 22 catches for 333 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Titans take on the Vikings. Tussey Mountain is currently in second, while Glendale is in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Josh Smith's team takes on Matt Irvine's team. The Titans have allowed 86 points this season, while the Vikings have given up 80. Tussey Mountain allowed 14 points last week as it topped the Blue Pirates.
