Green Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Arbor View, who was ranked fifth at the time (Green Valley was ranked 20th). The Gators fell 3-1 to the Aggies on Tuesday. The Gators have struggled against the Aggies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
While Green Valley ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-19, 22-25, 25-17.
Meanwhile, Coronado came tearing into Thursday's matchup with 18 straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Falcons.
Coronado had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-20, 25-23, 26-24.
Green Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 16-20. As for Coronado, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 35-2.
