Given Pottsville's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Jim Thorpe is ranked 662nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pottsville found their leader in underclassman Christian Alvarez, who scored 19 points. Alvarez hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Oswald, who scored nine points.
Lehighton's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Pottsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
