After losing to the Banneker Bulldogs the last time they met, the Anacostia Indians decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Anacostia strolled past Banneker with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 54-40. The win made it back-to-back wins for Anacostia.
Anacostia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Antaneke Cunningham, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cunningham has scored at least 25% of Anacostia's points. Another player making a difference was Nayjah Duvall, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Anacostia pushed their record up to 3-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.5 points per game. As for Banneker, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Anacostia will square off against Ballou at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Banneker, they will head out on the road to face off against Woodson at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
