After a string of seven wins, the St. Mary's Rams's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 62-58 loss to they. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, St. Mary's still got an impressive performance from Daniel Huerta, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Huerta's 15th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cayden Ward, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
St. Mary's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3. As for Campolindo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will square off against Tracy at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Campolindo's road trip will continue as they head out to face Capital Christian at 8:30 p.m. on January 6th.
