Shade is a perfect 10-0 against Turkeyfoot Valley Area since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Panthers will square off against the Rams at 3:30 p.m. Shade will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
While Shade's victory against North Star wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Cougars 11-9. 11 seems to be a good number for the Panthers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Shade got a massive performance out of Patty Kovacs, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Jamison, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Shade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Star only posted an OBP of .444.
Turkeyfoot Valley Area couldn't beat Blacklick Valley on Tuesday even though they stacked nine runs on them in the second inning. The Rams fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 13-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rams have suffered since May 7, 2024.
Laurel Vogel and Rianna Culp stepped up to the plate in a big way. Vogel went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Culp went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That RBI was Vogel's first of the season. Kiley Mitchell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Shade's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Turkeyfoot Valley Area, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Shade hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like Turkeyfoot Valley Area struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Shade took their win against Turkeyfoot Valley Area when the teams last played on April 9th by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
