The Chamblee Bulldogs struggled with assists on Friday (the Arabia Mountain Rams had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Chamblee ended up on the wrong side of a tough 59-33 walloping at the hands of the Rams. While losing is never fun, Chamblee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Rams are ranked 92nd).
When it comes to explaining why Chamblee lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alana Azeta. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 42.4% of Chamblee's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Wood, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Arabia Mountain found their leader in underclassman Charmaine Owens, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Shanya Heath was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Chamblee's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5. As for Arabia Mountain, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-2.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Tucker the next time they take the court. Chamblee will host the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Rams will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
