If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Mashpee. They will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Hull at 7:00 PM. Mashpee will be strutting in after a win while Hull will be stumbling in from a defeat.
Mashpee might be getting used to good results now that the squad have five wins in a row. They managed a somewhat close 27-23 victory over Cohasset. Junior Jack Vinitsky and senior Devaun Ford were among the main playmakers for Mashpee as the former rushed for 84 yards and 1 touchdown and the latter rushed for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns. If you haven't heard Ford's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past five games.
Meanwhile, we expected Hull to have trouble with the significantly higher ranked Abington last Friday, and they did. Hull have to be aching after a bruising 20-47 loss to Abington. Hull's loss continues a disappointing trend for the team, making it four losses in a row.
Mashpee took their match against Hull the last time the two teams met by a conclusive 35-6 score. Will Mashpee repeat their success, or does Hull have a better game plan this time around ? We'll find out soon enough.
