The Pleasant Grove Eagles pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 84-58 loss at the hands of Jesuit. Pleasant Grove was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 58-29.
Despite the loss, Pleasant Grove still got an impressive performance from Lionel Williamson, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Sykes, who scored 11 points along with six assists.
Pleasant Grove used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Jesuit. Three players got more time on the court than they're used to: Phillip Nguyen (18), Desi Solis (six), and Isaiah Sykes (15). The trio had averaged 4.24, 2.61, and 4.68 minutes respectively before Friday's game. Sykes made the most of the opportunity, scoring nine points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Pleasant Grove has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season. As for Jesuit, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 21-7.
Pleasant Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jesuit, they will be playing at home against Cordova at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cordova knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Jesuit likes a good challenge.
