The Madison Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 52-46 defeat to they. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Trinity Christian Academy is ranked 72nd).
Kaleb Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points for Trinity Christian Academy. The match was Williams' 16th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Niven, who scored nine points along with four blocks.
Madison's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Trinity Christian Academy, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Madison will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Trinity Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Jackson Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
