After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Mary's, the Saguaro Sabercats were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They strolled past Seton Catholic with points to spare, taking the game 59-43. This was payback for Saguaro, who suffered a 58-46 loss the last time these two teams met.
Saguaro was led to victory by Justice Hinds and Joe Miller. Hinds scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Miller scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Mikey Shepston was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Seton Catholic lost, one person who can't be blamed is Julian Garcia. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Steele, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Saguaro's win bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Seton Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saguaro won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Arcadia at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Arcadia is ranked 122nd, while Saguaro is ranked 116th). As for Seton Catholic, they will head out on the road to challenge Marcos de Niza at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
