Amundsen hasn't had much luck against Whitney Young recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Dolphins at 4:30 p.m. Whitney Young took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Amundsen, who comes in off a win.
Amundsen took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Oak Park-River Forest, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Huskies 3-2. The three-run effort marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Allie Reynolds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Amundsen let Ashley Ellevog and Lydia Hulliberger run wild. Ellevog went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Hulliberger got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Amundsen hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Park-River Forest struck out 13 times.
Oak Park-River Forest hit Whitney Young with a seven-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dolphins came up short against the Huskies, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Dolphins couldn't push the score so high this time.
Vanessa Tran was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
Amundsen is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Whitney Young, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Amundsen couldn't quite get it done against Whitney Young in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 as they fell 6-1. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
