The Desert Vista Thunder entered their tilt with the Gilbert Tigers with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Desert Vista strolled past the Tigers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 55-40. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Desert Vista also won the last time the pair played last Tuesday.
Desert Vista had a senior duo take command as Aniyah Riddell scored 19 points along with two steals and Shay Ijiwoye scored 13 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Riddell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Larney, who scored six points.
Gilbert's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aspen McClees, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Caia Campbell, who scored nine points.
Desert Vista's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Gilbert, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-4.
Desert Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gilbert also has no future games currently scheduled.
